Open windows media player on the computer and go to the “play” menu > “lyrics, captions and subtitles” and click on “on if available” option to turn on the subtitles. please post back with the result for further assistance. right click on the video and choose "play with windows media player" and check if it makes any difference. for example, "movie" and the subtitle is "movie.srt". the video and the subtitle file should have the same name.
